Castle Douglas choir use Ernespie Farm for rehearsals
A Castle Douglas choir is bursting into song again thanks to funding from The National Lottery – and they practice at Ernespie Farm!
SongWave (formerly The Feral Choir) is getting back into the swing of rehearsing and performing together thanks to a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund.
Said Chair Rachel Lucas, “We didn’t sing together at all through lockdown, so we’re raring to go! Now we can meet up and do what we love best – sing.
“We have a new rehearsal space at Ernespie Farm near Castle Douglas and the team there has been great in helping us work out the logistics of rehearsing post-covid. We’re hoping to have a couple of concerts there, too.
“We’re really hoping that we see some of our old audiences coming back as well as some new faces. There are lots of things we’ve all missed during lockdown life but singing together and contact with the community is what we’ve missed the most.”
The grant that SongWave has received will contribute to the costs of a new website, equipment, and enable the choir to put on some free concerts.
SongWave will be working on their new programme, under the direction of their new Musical Director Kate Howard, and will be releasing their concert dates soon.
They have a new Facebook page where you can keep up to date with the latest news – just search for SongWave Choir Castle Douglas.
