Family Fun for the Parents Inclusion Network
Earlier in the summer, Ernespie Farm was lucky to host the Parents Inclusion Network for an exciting summer trip, and what a day it was! Around 80 kids and their families came together for an out-of-hours visit, and the sun shone throughout.
The visit kicked off with lots of families enjoying the soft play area, where children could enjoy unlimited play in a safe and welcoming environment. The sensory areas were a huge hit, offering a calming space for the kids to explore and interact with various elements designed to stimulate and soothe.
After this, the group headed outside. With endless options to choose from, the children were spoiled for choice. From the thrilling zip wire to the giant bouncy pillows, the laughter and excitement were contagious. The cresta slide and sandpit provided more fun, while the unique play frame—a former combine harvester now serving as a slide and climbing frame—was a big hit.
One of the highlights of the visit was the opportunity for the families to interact with the animals. The animal petting area allowed the children to meet and greet some of the farm’s furry residents. After some cuddles, the group hopped on the tractor and trailer with Lizzie and Brian for a scenic ride to the dairy farm. Here the group were treated to a tour of the brand-new robotic milking parlour. The children (and adults!) were fascinated to see how technology is used to milk the cows. Meeting the adorable calves was a cherry on top, as the kids got to learn about the early stages of a cow’s life on the farm.
As the day drew to a close, it was clear that the visit to Ernespie Farm was a huge success for the group. The blend of sensory activities, outdoor play, and educational experiences made for an enriching and enjoyable day out. The Parents Inclusion Network aims to create inclusive and engaging experiences for all families, and this outing certainly lived up to that mission.
We’re already looking forward to our next adventure together. Until then, the memories of this wonderful day will keep us smiling and we can’t wait to welcome them back next time!
