Threave Bowmen at Ernespie Farm
A Castle Douglas Archery club is brimming with excitement after finally finding a winter venue for the club!
During COVID lockdown, Threave Bowman archery club had to suspend activities, much to the disappointment of the members. When they were able to shoot together again, they returned to enjoy the summer season at Stewartry rugby club, but unfortunately the group lost access to the winter shooting venue and had to suspend the club over the winter season. Back in 2022 the team at Ernespie Farm were approached by the Threave Bowmen who were looking for a new shooting venue. Due to the seasonal nature of the outdoor play area we have been fortunate enough to offer space to this lovely group of local archers and keep the club going throughout the winter!
The group say they have been “ delighted that Ernespie Farm found us space in a barn after Christmas and our small club has been able to resume regular shooting nights there. The team at Ernespie has gone out of their way to help us with the logistics of setting up the venue up. We can shoot there safely and catch up with each other while keeping dry and able to see our targets!”
Jill Bernacca says “We will be returning to our outdoor venue at the rugby club in April, when the evenings get lighter and the weather improves. Drop in on us there if you are interested, Thursday evenings from 6.30pm (unless the weather is bad). We also have a Facebook page, search for ‘Threave Bowmen’ and you can send us a message.”
If you are part of a local group and looking for event space please get in touch and chat to a member of the team. Contact lizzie@ernespiefarm.co.uk
